Lua are a family owned business whose bags and purses are produced in partnership with a small business in Vietnam. Lua pay a fair price for products to ensures the workers themselves are paid a fair wage and enjoy good working conditions. Many of their products are hand-made by women working either in a small, light workshop on the outskirts of Hanoi or at home so that they can work around family commitments. The workers are paid sick leave and, health insurance is provided for older workers. The regular work provided enables women from largely rice farming rural areas to improve their families’ living conditions and to send children to school. The main technicians have worked with Lua for 17 years and provide excellent training and mentoring to new workers as well as tremendous experience and craftsmanship in developing new products.
