Hilma af Klint was a pioneering Swedish artist and mystic whose abstract works, created in the early 20th century, predated and influenced the development of modern abstract art. Guided by spiritual visions and Theosophy, she produced a vast body of symbol-laden, visionary paintings largely unrecognised during her lifetime.
